Malissie Mae Barnes, 88, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away Saturday, February 6 at Henry County Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
She was born November 11, 1899 in Wayne County, the daughter of Henry and Winnie Ayers Rhoades. She had made her home in Henry County for the past 65 years and was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church.
Survivors include four sons, John, Henry, Phillip and James; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Guffey; a brother, Roy Rhoades; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Barnes in 1965; a daughter, Olga McColley in 1971; three brothers, Lewis, Chester and Columbus Rhoades; and three sisters, Mary Miller, Cora Spears and Nancy Burton.
Funeral services were held February 9 with burial in the South Mound Cemetery.
