Jane Garrison Stone, widow of the late Milburn Stone, ("Doc" on the T.V. series Gunsmoke) died at her home in Rancho Santa Fe, California on October 20, 2002. Mrs. Stone was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on November 23, 1912. She came to California to study at the Pasadena Playhouse and worked for Selznick Studios where she met Boris Karloff and his wife, Edie. This led to her employment with Ralph Edwards Productions as office manager, secretary and stand-in for the principle subjects during rehearsals for Edwards' property, "This Is Your Life" television show. Mrs. Stone worked with Ralph Edwards until she and her husband, Milburn retired and moved to Rancho Santa Fe, California. Milburn Stone died in 1980. Services will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, November 3, 2002 at Sorrento Valley Chapel, El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, California. She will be interred next to her husband. Survivors are a daughter, four grandchildren, sister, brother-in-law and seven great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
