Frank Gurney Beam, Jr., 94, of McComb, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 in McComb.

He was born April 4, 1922 in McCall Creek, MS . He was the son of Frank Gurney Beam, Sr. and Myrtle Smith Beam.

He was a longtime member of Felder United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of McComb High School where he played on the undefeated, 1941 state championship football team. He played football at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. Mr. Beam was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII where he served in the South Pacific.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Laverne Felder Beam; and a sister, Marjorie Dunaway.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David Beam Danforth and Dianne of Brandon; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Beam Khayat and Mike of Ocean Springs; two grandchildren, Natalie Danforth Coupe and husband, Rick of Ocean Springs and Rachael Danforth of Charleston, SC; his two twin brothers and their spouses, Charlie and Dot Beam of McComb and Bobby and Shirley Beam of Angleton, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Felder Cemetery with Rev. Barry Dickerson officiating. Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Felder United Methodist Church or Felder Campground Association, 1014 Campground Circle, Summit, MS 39666.
