John Wilder Bowden was born to George Kenney Bowden and Irma Provinski July 11, 1926 in Chicago.
Education: U of Chgo Lab School, Highland Park HS, USMMC, Yale U '50, U of Chicago Law '52 Chicago Bar '52.
Married: Helen Cornelius 1952-1977 &
Denise Gould 1980-85
Father of four, youngest son Patrick Daniel departed 6 weeks earlier and is buried alongside.
Aficionado of Dixieland Jazz and history, he was known for riding bikes before it was cool, his gin martinis, and his infectious chuckle. He loved the city of Chicago as much as sitting on the porch of his "farm" in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
On the rainy September day of his burial, the Salty Dogs- a local Dixieland Jazz Band- played during our "second line" procession from chapel to grave site. Raindrops clung to the bell of the horns as "Just a Closer Walk to You" echoed off the graves. It was a ceremony as memorable as JWB.
