MRS. IDA C. MARTIN
Mrs. Ida C. Chalfant Martin, 78,
of 622 Front St., died Monday
at 6:20 a.m. at her home. Born
June 23, 1874, in Cabell Co., W.Va.,
Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late
Alfred and Margaret Sneed Ellis. On
Feb. 4, 1894, she was married to
William Douglas Chalfant. He died
Oct. 31, 1921. Surviving of this
marriage are three daughters, Mrs.
Floyd Robinson and Mrs. Harvey Lee
of Marietta and Mrs. Everett Hall of
Zanesville; 14 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. One son, Marion
Alfred Chalfant, is deceased. She was
later married to Frank Martin, who is
deceased. One step-son, Ernest Martin
of Zanesville, and one step-daughter,
Mrs. Blanche Zink of Zanesville, survive.
Other survivors include one brother,
Edward Ellis of Marietta and one sister,
Mrs. Thomas Hughes of London, Ohio.
Mrs. Martin resided in Constitution where
she was a member of the Constitution
Methodist Church before coming to Marietta
17 years ago. Funeral services will be at
1 p.m. Wednesday at the Doudna & McClure
Funeral Home. Interment wil be in Valley
Cemetery at Riverview. The body will remain
at the Doudna & McClure Funeral Home where
friends may call.
