Goes To Her Reward.

Mrs. Caroline Thomas How, wife of Francis How, deceased, died at her home in Avoca Tuesday forenoon at 10:20 o'clock aged sixty-five years, five months and twelve days. The funeral services will be held today from her late home.

On account of the illness of Miss Edith How there was no public services at the home, but a short service was held, the funeral was under the auspices of the Eastern Star Lodge, the services being held at the cemetery where a large concourse of friends assembled to pay their respects to one of the dearest old ladies of our community, in whose death there has been taken from our midst a kind and sympathetic neighbor and friend, a good mother and true wife. Her kind deeds and words have had their effect in making the world better.

Mrs. How has been an invalid for the past three years, having had a stroke of apoplexy from which she never recovered, most of the time she has been confined to her room. The casket and room in which she layed was banked with some of the most beautiful flowers, from friends far and near.

Caroline Thomas was born at Newbury, Berkshire England, April 24, 1843, where she grew to womanhood, with all the luxuries of life. When quite young she came to America and settled in New York City, where she was married to Francis How in 1865, two years later they moved to Council Bluffs and then to Avoca in 1871 where she has since made her home. Through this union three children were born, Frank R. How of Council Bluffs; Harry and Sidney How of this city. She also leaves an adopted daughter, Miss Edith How. Mrs. How came from a family of sixteen children.

The bereaved sons and daughter have the sympathy of their many friends in their deep sorrow.
