Maria Scotta Fergus
Maria Scotta Fergus is deceased at her late home on West Gay Street, this place. She was seventy-five years of age and had suffered for a long time with an attack of dropsy. The deceased was well-known about this place, where she had resided all her life. The funeral will be private. She was a sister of S. Tudor Fergus, a former music teacher here. A sister, Helena, survives her.
The family is of noble ancestry, but the father who lived here for many years and was organist at the Church of the Holy Trinity, never lid claim to the title which belonged to him in Great Britain.

The body of the late Miss Maria Scotta Fergus was given interment this forenoon in the family plot at Oaklands Cemetery. Services were conducted at the house by Rev. John Mills Gilbert, of the Church of the Holy Trinity. The funeral was private, only members of the family and a few close friends being present.
