Alice, 75, of rural Bluffton, died at 2:45 a.m., at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She had been in failing health for some time.
She was born to Joseph Sr. and Lillie (Place) Alexander. On Jan 26, 1947, who married Jerald D. Barger, who preceded her in death November 1970.
Surviving are three sons, Montie D., Bluffton, Samuel L., Murray and Sgt. Mitchel Barger, Spring Lake, N.C.; two daughters, Jo H. (Lester) Harris, Poneto and Celesta (Michael) Connaughty, Rathdrum, ID; a brother, Norman, Celina, OH; two sisters, Dorothy (John) Hoenie and June (William) Goodwin, both Celina; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers are deceased.
She worked for five years at Franklin Electric Co., retiring in 1988, and then worked at McDonald's from 1989 to 1995. She was a member of the Poneto United Methodist Church and was devoted to gardening and to her family.
Services were at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, Pastor Stephen Bard will officiate
