Wilbur Wayne Van Deventer, age 81, of Uncertain, Texas passed away in Shreveport, LA on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was born on August 1, 1934 in Faxon, Oklahoma to Fremont Charles and Bertha Van Deventer. Wayne is survived by his wife, Connie Davis Van Deventer; his children, Scottie Anton (Mike), Tisha Ford (Ron), King Van Deventer (Renee), Tracie Murlin (Michael); his step-children, Chip Aspromonte (Jayna) and Danielle Procell (Johnny); his sisters, Jane Briseno, Elaine Rhodes and Juanita Smith. Wayne is also survived by his devoted grandchildren, Eric Welsh, Christopher Anton, Jill Flynn, Samantha Jackson, Laura Rogers, Chloe Murlin, Layne Murlin and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and his favorite “Baby Black Dog”, Bella. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Floyd Van Deventer, Betty Henly, Colleen White and Kenneth Van Deventer. Wayne was a commercial fisherman and owner of W.K. Fish Company and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS ESSEX CVA-9. He was a well-known and well-loved resident of the Caddo Lake area and will be missed by many who knew him. Visitation for Wayne will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 6-8pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:00am with Pastor Joe Hall officiating. Private interment will be held immediately following the service at Beers Field Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Coleman, Johnny Magby, Jeff Spears, Jay Young, C.J. Ayers and Kenny Hudson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Maples, David Stalcup and Johnny Cupples.
