Mr. DeBevoise, 88, of Newark, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015, at his home, weary of yet another bad season for the Cleveland Browns and unable to witness another loss to the Denver Broncos. He was born May 3, 1927, in Newark, a son of the late William and Cynthia (Rector) DeBevoise. He had served in the US Army Air Corps and joined the US Air Force when it became an independent service branch. Following his enlistment in the Air Force, he served in the US Navy. Mr. DeBevoise was a retired postal clerk at the Newark Post Office and was a member of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Newark. Surviving are his children; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 2012; a daughter Katherine “Kitty” Bourne-Hinkle; a grandson, Kyle DeBevoise; his brothers, Roy and Carl DeBevoise and his sisters Catherine, Mary and Nora DeBevoise and Ethel Langel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
