Children: William Harvey, Sarah Angeline, Benjamin Franklin (died young), Fidelia Ann, Lycurgus, Charles Ransome, Marquis Lafayette (died young), Selina (died young), Return Jonathon, Thomas (died young), Martha M., Mary Lavinia. He built the first flour mill in Big Springs area and was also well-known in business and political circles. "As a member of the state Legislature in 1843, he introduced and was instrumental in the passage of Indiana's first free public school bill."
