MOSES RAMEY was born about 1814 at Floyd Co., KY to William Ramey & Anna Samlins.
Floyd Co., KY was formed 1800 and the area they lived later became Pike Co., KY which was formed in 1822.
1820 - Moses age 6 is probably in his father's household on the Floyd Co., KY census.
In 1822 the part of Floyd Co., KY where Moses father lived was reformed 1822 into Pike Co., KY.
1830 - Moses age 16 is probably in his father's household on the 1830 Pike Co., KY census which has at least 3 Ramey households: James, Moses (Moses "Mosie" Ramey, Jr. b.1796), and William (William R. Ramey, Sr. b.1782). Moses would have been abt. 19 and probably still in the HH of of his father William.
1838 - Moses age 24 married Virginia "Jennie" Fuller Mar. 3, 29 1838. Does their marriage record have their parent's names listed? They had at least 12 children in about 20 years from about 1841 to 1861.
1840 - Moses age 26 should be listed on the 1840 census which has at least 2 Ramey households: #272 and #281. Moses must be one of them and the other may be his father William who is still alive. There may be more Ramey HH's.
1850 - Moses age 36 is listed in his household on the 1850 Pike Co., KY census HH #213: Moses Ramey 40 farmer $200 b.KY; Jane 28 b.KY; Vicey 9 KY; William 6 KY; Berry 5 KY; Marrinda 3 KY; Nancey 1 KY; Sherad 4/12 KY.
Moses probably lived near his father William who was in the 1850 census, see following:
1850 - Moses' father, mother, and brother are listed on the 1850 Pike Co., KY census HH #216: Wm. Ramey 67 Farmer 6,000 b.VA; Anna Ramey 66 b.SC, can read & write; William Ramey 24 Farmer b.KY.
1860 - Moses age 46. The 1860 Pike Co., KY census probably lists the HH of Moses, abt. age 49, and probably his wife Jennie (age abt. 38).
1861 - Moses age 47 when his wife Jennie died (age abt. 39) April 6, 1861 and was buried in the Elkhorn Cemetery at Pikeville.
In the 1870 Pike Co., KY census the last child's name listed is "Berry Ramey 9." Did Jennie die from childbirth?
1865 - Moses age 51 when his father William died. Moses inherited land from his father's Will of 1864 Pike Co., KY Will Book "B" page 50. April 12, 1864. "I, William Ramey of Pike County...3rdly - I give to my son MOSE RAMEY another part of the said land beginning on the west side of the RUSSELL FORK of SANDY RIVER on an Ash and Sweet Gum on the point of a hill, thence South 70 degrees, 57 poles crossing the river to a Sassafrass and mark, thence South 7 degrees, East 66 poles to a Maple and Spruce Pine, West 81- East 25 poles to a Hickory and Sugar Tree, south 62-East 46 poles to a two Beech and South 50- East 108 poles to a Poplar and Beech, East 27 poles to a Beech and Maple, South 62-20 poles to a two Beech-Walnut, South 50-East 62 poles to Two Beechnuts on the bank of the river, South 60-East 64 poles to a Walnut-Hickory on Mary Potter, thence with the same Potter line down the river and crossing the river to the John Moor Branch and with my line down the river to the beginning, to have and to hold the same his lifetime, and after his decease, to descend to his children forever."
1870 - Moses age 56 is listed in his household in the 1870 Pike Co., KY census HH #66, Dist. 3: Moses Ramey 55; Epperson Ramey 55; Jackson Ramey 28; Sarah Spears 25; Pricey Ramey 21; Maza Ramey b.VA; Jasper Ramey 18; Newton Ramey 16; Frankie J. 14; Berry Ramey 9 (male or female?).
1880 - Moses age 66 is listed in his household in the 1880 Pike Co., KY census HH #77-78 Lower Elkhorn pct 13: Moses Ramey 65 farmer, widowed, b.KY, father b. VA & mother b.SC; Pricey 28 dau, single, at home, b.KY; Stewart Williams 14, single, grandson, at home, b. W. VA. [Grandson of which daughter?]
1890 - Moses age 76. The 1890 Federal Census burned.
1892 - Moses age 78 died Sept. 25, 1892 at Pike Co., KY and was buried in the Elkhorn City Cemetery.

Remy Family in America: Moses Remy b.1814 at his father's home on the mouth of Elkhorn Creek in Pike Co. [Floyd Co., KY in 1800 to 1822 when Pike Co., KY was formed], KY, m. Jennie Fuller who d. in 1858. He was a farmer and d. Elkhorn City, Sep. 25, 1892, aged 78. He is buried in Elkhorn Cemetery.
Moses was abt. 47 when his wife Jennie died in 1858. Souces for her name include: Remy Family in America shows Jennie Fuller; Moses' son Jasper married in 1874 and the marriage record lists Virginia Ramey as Moses' wife. " Wise Co., VA marriages: Nancy Emaline Senter, parents Stephen H. Senter and Sarah Senter, m. on Jan. 22, 1874 to Jasper Ramey, parents Moses Ramey and Virginia Ramey." Also, Virginia is listed as Giny Ramy in the 1869 marriage record of Moses' son Berry: "Wise Co., KY marriages: Bery Ramy, parents Moses Ramy & Giny Ramey, M. on Mar. 3, 1869 to Mazy Senter, parents S. H. Senter & Sarah Senter." Accordingly, from those sources she must have been named Virginia Fuller, and know as Jennie or Giny.
KY Land Grants in Pike Co., KY by Jillson; land willed to Moses by father William: [Land is in the area of Elkhorn City.]
"Moses Ramey, 50 acres, Dry Fk., Sandy River, Jan. 2, 1845."
"Moses Ramey, 75 acres, Marrowbone Creek, Jan. 3, 1845."

"Moses Ramey, 23 acres, Russel Fk., Little Branch, Mar. 14, 1873."
Locations are below of the watercourses shown above:
Dry Fork empties into Marrowbone Creek that flows into the Russell Fork located on Rt. 80 north of Elkhorn City.
Marrowbone Creek is located on the west side of Rt. 80 north of Draffin.
Pond Creek is just south of Dry Fork and Marrowbone Creek and flows into the Russell Fork.
Beaver Creek, Main Fork is located on Rt. 1373 on the east side of the Russell Fork between Elkhorn City and Draffin on Rt. 80.
