Professional Boxer. He was a two-time NBA World Middleweight Champion (1938, 1939 to 1940). He lost the title to Solly Krieger in 1938 only to regain it again after scoring a TKO in a rematch against him seven months later. Known for a powerful left hook, one of Hostak's best victories occured against Freddie Steele in 1938 in which Steele was knocked down four times. Some of his other notable opponents were Babe Risko and Tony Zale. Hostak's career record in 84 bouts is 63 wins (42 by KO), 9 loses and 12 draws. Cause of death: Stroke (bio by: C.S.)
