David BIRGE was son of Elijah and Lydia Birge.

He married Abigail Howland on December 30, 1778, in Barnstable, Massachusetts.

They had 10 children.

American Revolutionary War

David Birge enlisted at Woodbury, Connecticut, early in July 1775, for the term of six months, served as private in Captain Nathaniel Tuttle's company, Colonel Charles Webb's Connecticut regiment, and before the expiration of the term for which he enlisted. he reenlisted in the same company and regiment for the term of one year, was appointed January 1, 1776, 2nd Sergeant in 2nd Company in Colonel Charles Webb's 19th Regiment of Foot, was in the battles of Long Island, Harlem Heights, White Plains, Trenton, and Princeton, and was discharged the first of February, 1777. He volunteered and was in the battle of Bennington and at the surrender of Burgoyne; Upon the expiration of his enlistment, he served six weeks longer as guard to prisoners from Morristown to Peekskill and discharged at the latter place.

In 1818, David, age 64, a cabinet maker, and his wife Abigail (Howland) Birge, age 65, were living with their son Elija Birge, age 30, and his family.
