Mr. Otto Bynum Deviney, 96 of 1508 Casar-Lawndale Road, Casar, passed away August 4, 2006 at Sunrise Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Born May 6, 1910 in Cleveland County to the late John Deviney and Mary Jane Deviney Deviney he was a painter for Daniels Construction and a farmer. Mr. Deviney was a life long member of Pisgah Baptist Church, where he was the oldest living member of the church and was a former Sunday school teacher and deacon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Pauline Pruett Deviney; a daughter, Arlene Deviney; four brothers, Grayson, Lee, Shannon, and Arlo Deveney; a sister, Brunie Travis; and three grandsons, Charles, David, Christopher Deviney. Mr. Deviney is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Bobby Gene Deviney of Morganton; Ralph F. and Geraldine Deviney of Casar; James B. and Pat Deviney Maiden; and Jerry P. Deviney of Simpsonville, SC; a sister, Gladys Brackett of Casar; ten grandchildren, Cindy & Ray Hightower, Jr., Joel Deviney, Danny and Rita Deviney, Ray and Trenna Deviney, Mitchell and Paula Deviney, Misty and Dwayne Shope, Tracey and Justin Dodson, Scott and Kristy Deviney, Patrick Deviney and Fran Noel and eleven great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Nathan, Dean, Makayla, Andrea, Erika, Mia, Anniston, Hanson, and Conner Deviney and Alexis Shope.

A funeral service will be at Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
