After almost 94 years on this earth, our dear mother has flown away to her heavenly home. Frances Roberta Noble passed away Sept. 21, 2015 in Olympia, WA. She was born Jan. 22, 1922, the first child of Harry A. and Maud A. McDaniel, whose pioneer families homesteaded near Ft. Laramie, WY.

Graduating near the top of her class, Roberta received a full four-year scholarship to the University of Wyoming. Sadly, a broken ankle the first year derailed her academic pursuits there and instead she attended business school and became a very proficient bookkeeper.

In July of 1946, Roberta married Harold R. Noble and had a family of four, two sons and two daughters. In the early years, the family moved frequently, but for over 40 years they lived in Vancouver, WA. Harold passed away in 2007, after 61 years of marriage.

Throughout the years both good and bad, she was the glue that held the family together and was a diligently hard worker. Roberta spent the last year of her life in Olympia with her son, Russ, and his wife, Sheryl, so their family could take care of her and allow her to enjoy her children and grandchildren. All of us will greatly miss her many stories, her ready smile, and her enduring sense of humor that continued through to the end.

In addition to her children, Lila Noble-Owes (Ron, Russell Noble (Sheryl), Grant Noble (Joy), and Lora Noble Looking Elk (Talbert), she leaves nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life and our love for our mother will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 3, 2015, at Hope Community Church in Olympia.
