Missy Allred, 89, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 from causes incident to age.
Missy was born on April 10, 1926 in Lakeland, Florida, to Holmes and Joyce Souther. She had a very happy childhood growing up with her brother Holmes Jr. (Bud) and her sister Vicki. She graduated from Lakeland High School where she had many friends and was active in cheerleading, sports, the Art Club, and was a member of a sorority.
She met the love of her life, Frank Allred, after WWII on a blind date. They were married on April 12, 1946 in Florida. They spent their honeymoon traveling back to Frank’s hometown of Ogden to settle down and raise their family.
Mom made friends very easily and belonged to several clubs and associations. She was president of the Davis Ladies Golf Association, a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club, the Ogden Jaycee-Ettes, and Ladies Auxiliary of the Weber County Jeep Patrol. She won the club championships at El Monte and Davis Park Golf Courses.
In mom’s words, “What really matters in life is knowing in your heart that you have lived a good, truthful life; never intentionally hurting someone, trying to be helpful, not being phony, in other words, living the Golden Rule.” The most important thing to mom was family; we enjoyed vacations, holidays, and just being together. She loved each one of us, especially Dad.
Missy is survived by her son, Gregg (Tina) Allred; daughters, Vicki (Kim) Covieo and Lori (Monte) Montgomery; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Missy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and her brother and sister.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be held at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
