Nicholas Evert, husband of Mrs. Ann Evert of Lancaster , passed on March 31 at 5:30 a.m. following an illness of two months duration due to heart trouble. Mr. Evert, who was sixty-nine years of age, was a native of Luxemburg , Germany , coming to this country in early life. As one of the pioneer settlers in the Valley forty years ago, he was engaged in business in Lancaster and was interested in mines in the neighboring mountains in Death valley and in San Bernardino county and was the discoverer of the gypsum deposit near Palmdale. The past few years had been spent near Los Angeles . In addition to his widow he is survived by two sons, Peter and Herman, in Los Angeles , and one daughter, Mrs. Gar Carter of Mariposa , California .
Services were held at the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with interment at the Lancaster cemetery. W.S. Mumaw was the undertaker in charge.
