Major League Baseball Player. He was an outfielder and third baseman in thirteen seasons for the New York Giants, Boston/ Milwaukee Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was named to the National League All Star Team in 1948 and 1949. One of Gordon's best seasons was in 1948 when he hit 30 home runs and drove in 107 RBIs. In 1,475 career games, Gordon had 1,415 hits, 202 home runs, 805 RBIs, a .283 lifetime batting average and only struck out 356 times. During World War II, Gordon served in the US Coast Guard from 1944 to 1945.
