Jane Paralee Allman was born 28 FEB 1837 in Stewart County, Tennessee to Seaborn and Susan Ann Gunson Allman.
She married William Curtis Newberry on 15 JAN 1856 in Stewart County, Tennessee. The next day they came to Weakley County and set up housekeeping in a one room log cabin. They moved to the log cabin using a wheelbarrow to carry their possessions. They did well and later built a large house in the 6th district (about where Johnnie Oliver lives (the Jess Highfill place)). William and Jane lived together for 59 years and had 9 children. Seven lived to be adults.
Jane never forgot her home in Stewart County after she moved with her husband to Weakley COunty. Every year she went back home to Stewart County for the Home Cooking Day at the Swinging Limb Church. She rode a mule for the 45 - 50 mile trip.
They gave each of their children a parcel of land and a house when they married.
Jane died 25 OCT 1915 in Gleason, Weakley County, Tennessee
