He graduated from St. Mary's University in 1963 and received his Masters from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1965.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Mary K Diedrich Collins in 2002 and is survived by his brother Theo, his sisters Helen and Vella Rae, his daughter Sharon, his two sons Michael and Patrick, and his five grand children Chris, Stephen, Sara, Laura and Julia. After retiring from the US Army Medical Corp in 1961, Elzie Lee Collins dedicated his life to serving the needs of the poor and the aged through his affiliation with agencies such as the United Way and The Family Services Association of San Antonio. He was a member of the BPOE Elks and the Rotary Club of San Antonio.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring. MASS FRIDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2008 10:00 A.M. ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH 3303 URBAN CREST Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum.
