From Orem-Geneva Times (Orem, Utah) - Thursday, May 7, 1970:

W. Lester Hawkins, 58, 1353 s. 800 E., Orem, died Friday at 6 p.m. at the Cottonwood LDS Hospital in Murray of a probably heart attach. Born in Benjamin, November 29, 1911 to Charles E. and Clara Ludlow Hawkins, he married Norma D. Hallmark May 27, 1942 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He was a member of the LDS Church in the Orem 12th Ward and held the office of Elder. He was an outstanding salesman. His principal hobby was fishing. He had lived in Orem most of his life.

Survivors include his wife of Orem, three sons and a daughter: Eli K. Hawkins, Provo; David L. Hawkins, Oxnard, Calif., Keith J. Hawkins, U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin; Mrs. Ronald (Patricia Lee) Mercado, Woodland Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters: Ivan Hawkins, Benjamin; Mrs. Bertha Jones, Payson; Ray Hawkins, Provo; Eva Hawkins and Mrs. Dale Montague, both of Salt Lake City; Paul Hawkins and Mrs. Earl (Emma) Antoft, both of California.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in Orem. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery.
