He was a retired carpenter.
He was the son of the late Robert P. and Virginia Alvis of Rogersville, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by infant son, Robert P. Alvis III, two brothers, Bleve and Earl Alvis.
He is survived by daughter, Sharon Cederberg and husband Dion of Rogersville, grandson, Adam Gederberg, sisters, Ruth Lawson and husband Walter of Church Hill and Lena Bruner and husband Jim of Rogersville, mother of his daughter, )ean Alvis of Rogersville, two special sisters-in-law, Luella Alvis and Lois Slater of Rogersville, several nieces and nephews, close friend, William (Bump) West of Rogersville.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday (11/3/11) at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
