César Vezzani
Birth: Aug. 8, 1888
Death: Nov. 11, 1951

Opera Singer. He was born in Bastia, Corse, France. In 1908, he began his vocal studies in Paris. Soon, he made his debut there in Gretry's Richard "Cœur de Lion" on 17 December 1911, and received tremendous ovations. Newspapers said that a star was born. Vezzani thrilled audiences until 1948 at which point he suffered a stroke during a rehearsal at the Toulon Opera that left him completely paralyzed. His repertoir included "Werther," "Lakmé," "Le Pardon de Ploërmel," "Carmen" and "Manon." (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
