Dorothy W. Goode "Dot," 90, of Bedford, formerly of Dillwyn, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013. She was born April 27, 1923 to Leotie Davis Wilkes and Mary Elizabeth Carter Wilkes. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Austin C. Goode, and is survived by their three children Linda Heath (Charles) of Stephens City, Mary Clay Mongold (Vernon) of Moorefield, WV, John (Patricia) of Blackstone; and grandchildren, Brian Heath (Melody), John Mongold (Valerie), Julie Gordon (Jason), Ashley Meadows (Ryan), and Laurie Goode; ten great grandchildren with two more "on the way."

Dot was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Dillwyn. A celebration of Dot's life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, with the Rev. James W. Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon in the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elks National Home, 931 Ashland Avenue, Bedford, VA 24523 or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 32, Dillwyn, VA 23936.

The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Elks National Home and to Joe Goode, a loyal brother-in-law, who visited her daily during her stay in Special Care.
