Essie L. (Happy) Thorson, 61, of Joliet, died Sunday at St. Joseph hospital in Joliet.

He is survivied by his wife, Charlotte A.; four sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Vera) Keeley of Joliet, Mrs. June (Agex) Olson of Morris, Mrs. Raymond Mitchell of Gardner, Mrs. Lucille Knolles of Oshkosh, Wis.; two brothers, Otis thorson of Joliet and Claude Thorson of Morris; three aunts, one uncle and numerous neices and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home in Joliet. The Rev. Edward F. Brewster will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn memorial park.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born in Morris and lived for 34 years in Joliet. He was employed by General Refractories as a die changer and was a member of United Steel Workers Union 2115. In 1958 he retired because of ill health.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Vernon, and a sister, Mrs. William (Genora) Schuman.
