NEWSPAPER OBITUARY
CHARLES C. COULTER, 66, DIES AT CROOKSVILLE
Charles C. Coulter, 66, one of Perry County's prominent citizens died at his home in Crooksville, last Thursday morning after an illness of two years.
Mr. Coulter was general manager of the Star Stoneware, a position he had filled for the past 32 years. Previously, he was foreman of the same company for 16 years. He was a member of the Crooksville Methodist Church for 45 years, a member of the official board of the church, chairman of the finance committee and lay delegate to the annual conference of the church.
He was active in county and state political affairs; was a member of the Perry County Republican central and executive committees for 13 years, and was for many years a member of the Crooksville board of education; a member of the village council; of the Chamber of Commerce; was president of the Perry County Tuberculosis association, and a member of the county board of health.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Watts Coulter; one son, Rev. Dr. Charles M. Coulter, pastor of the North Broadway Methodist Church of Columbus; two daughters, Miss Eva Coulter of the home and Miss Margaret Jean Coulter of Ohio State University; one brother, Clarence E. Coulter of Crooksville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Allen of Zanesville, and Mrs. Blanche Gardner of Glouster. Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at the Crooksville Methodist Church, Saturday afternoon at 2:30, with the pastor, Rev. Paul E. Ertel, and Rev. Donald Timerman of Newark, officiating. Interment was in the Crooksville Cemetery.
Masonic funeral service was held at the home Friday evening at 7:30.

Was One of Perry County's Most Prominent Citizens; Republican Chairman 13 Years
Charles C. Coulter, one of Perry County's most prominent citizens, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at his home in Crooksville after a long illness. He was 66 years old.
Mr. Coulter had been in ill health for two years, and had been confined to his home for the past few months.
Chairman of the Perry County Republican executive committee for the past 13 years, with exception of a single term from 1932 to 1934. Mr. Coulter had been active in county and state Republican politics for most of his life. He served as a member of the Perry County republican central committee for 30 years.
He was superintendent of the Star Stoneware Co. at Crooksville for the past 32 years, and was employed as foreman before that. In all, he served the company for 48 years.
A member of the Crooksville Methodist Church for 45 years, he had served as a member of the official board, as chairman of the finance committee for many years, as chairman of the pastoral relations committee, lay delegate to the annual church conference and as member of the board of trustees.
He was active in civic affairs at Crooksville and in Perry County, serving as a member of the Crooksville school board for ten years. He had been a member of the Crooksville village council and belongs to the village Chamber of Commerce.
At the time of his death he was chairman of the Perry County Tuberculosis Association and was a member of the county board of health.
He was a past master of Peerless Lodge No. 591, F. & A. M. at Crooksville. He was a past patron of Crooksville Chapter No. 239; Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. Coulter is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Watts Coulter; one son, Dr. Charles M. Coulter, pastor of the North Broadway Methodist Church in Columbus; two daughters, Miss Eva Coulter, teacher in the Crooksville High School, and Miss Margaret Jean Coulter a senior at Ohio State University in Columbus; two granddaughters, Margaret Celeste and Mary Jo Coulter, both of Columbus; one brother, Clarence E. Coulter of Crooksville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Allen of Zanesville, and Mrs. Blanche Gardner of Glouster; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be ere conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Crooksville Methodist Church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Paul E. Ertel, and Dr. Donald Timerman, superintendent of the Zanesville Methodist District. Burial will be made in the Crooksville Cemetery.
Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the family home. Members will meet at the lodge rooms in Crooksville at 7 p.m.
The body was to be removed to the family home from the Cannon & Cannon Funeral Home late Thursday.
