Mary Elizabeth “Marie” Grunloh, 93, of Lexington, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday (July 22, 2015) at Heritage Health, Normal.

She was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Teutopolis, in Effingham County, a daughter of Joseph John and Caroline Ann Probst Beckman. She married Joseph Bernard Grunloh on April 18, 1942 in Teutopolis. He preceded her in death March 2, 1990.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (John) Cheever and Patti (Bob) Brown; a son, Steve Grunloh; a daughter-in-law, Doris Grunloh; a son-in-law, Patrick Dust; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Kinkelaar and Louise (Jerome) Pruemer and three brothers, Clarence (Mary Louise) Beckman, Donald (Pauline) Beckman and Joseph (Wilma) Beckman.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Grunloh Dust in 1984; a son, Michael Grunloh in 1999; three sisters, Gertrude Overbeck, Dolores Bierman and Adele Niebrugge and a brother, Gerald Beckman.

Mary and her husband farmed for many years and she excelled in her role as a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lexington.
