DEATH OF AN OLD MAN – Mr. James O’Brien, an aged citizen of this place, who has been an invalid from rheumatism for a number of years, died at his home on Thursday last, aged 82 years and 4 months. He was a most estimable man, and devout Christian, having been a member of the Methodist church for a great many years. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, and had drawn a pension from the government for a long time, which greatly helped him to live comfortably in his old age and sickness. He was also one of the few persons now living who was in the Richmond theatre the time it was burned in 1811, at the time being quite a lad. His funeral was preached by Rev. J. L. Shipley, in the Methodist church, and he was buried in Woodbine Cemetery on Friday evening with Masonic honors. His acquaintance thoughout Rockingham was very extensive, and all honored him for his sterling worth.
