Lorene Diekamp (nee: Schwede) of Saint Charles, MO, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at the age of 85. Wife of 63 years to Elmer Diekamp; daughter of the late Herman and Hulda Schwede; mother of Karen (Jeff) Hitchcock and the late Kathy Diekamp. She is survived by her grandson, Mathew (Janelle) Hitchcock, great-grandchildren, Isaac and Judah, granddaughter, Kathrin (Peter) Thomsen, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Lillian. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Alvera Schmidt, Leona Mallinckrodt, and Louise Gravemann. She is preceded in death by brother, Elmer Schwede.
Lorene was a secretary in the Francis Howell School District for many years, and received the Howell of Fame award in 1989. Lorene was a volunteer at NECACC/RSVP. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ where she enjoyed serving on the Historical Committee, singing in the choir, and acting in skits. She greatly enjoyed travelling and camping.
