John Akin of Ghent is Dead at 79
John Akin, 79, of Ghent, died Monday, September 26th at the Barnwell Nursing Home after an illness of a year. Born in the town of Austerlitz, the son of James and Mary Holland Akin, he was educate in farming.
For a number of eyars he resided in Arnold's mills, and later moved to Ghent.
He was a member of the Ghent Lutheran Church from which his funeral was held Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Charles E. Pope officiating, and with burial in the Ghent Union Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Edward of Ghent, John of Albany; seven daughters, Mrs. Donald Wilder, mrs. George mellus, Mrs. Lester Currier of Chatham, Mrs. Charles Wilber of Ghent, Mrs. Edwin hartman of Port Chester, and Mrs. Robert Moran of Albuquergue, N.M.; a sister, Mrs. Stephen Prior of Ghent; a brother, James of Wingdale; 25 grand children and six great grandchildren.
E.B. Gifford & Son had charge of the funeral arrangements.
