Samuel Paxton died at the home of his son, Thomas Paxton, near the Chesapeake Western depot yesterday after noon. Had he lived, Mr. Paxton would have been 80 years old May 1. Several months ago he was stricken with a severe attack of bronchitis, and since small hopes of his recovery have been entertained.

The deceased was a native of Augusta County, and fifty years ago he married Miss Rebecca Norcross. He is survived by six sons and two daughters.

BURIED YESTERDAY

The funeral service of the late Samuel Paxton, whose death occurred Wednesday about noon, were held yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, Thomas Paxton, ear the Chesapeake Western depot. Rev. Oscar E. Sams officiated. The interment was in Woodbine cemetery. The pallbearers were messrs. P. J. Lamb, A. D. Wanchope, J. C. Staples, Peter Guyer, Conrad Long, and Dr. T. C. Firebaugh.
