Gene "Buddy" Seaney, 76, died Friday, August 23, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at 12 noon Monday at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
Mr. Seaney was a native of Jackson and has been a resident of Pearl since 1946. He was a retired mold maker with Glass Containers. He was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Pearson Baptist Church in Pearl, where he and his wife were members of The Young at Hearts. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Mr. Seaney was a member and Past Master of the John P. Byrd Masonic Lodge and a member of The Richland Chapter of the AARP. He was a member of the Central Mississippi Dulcimer Association, Well's Creek Hunting Club in Adams County, and the CCLR of Hinds Community College.
Mr. Seaney is survived by his wife, Connie Seaney of Pearl; sons, Sammy E. Seaney of Florence, Marlon Seaney of Pearl, and Bobby D. Seaney of Brandon; sister, Jodi Derry of Normal, Ill.; mother, Mae Kiper of Normal, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Seaney was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Carney, and his father, Eugene Seaney Sr.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital.
