Geraldine Berkich, 85, of Greenville, formerly of Godfrey, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, at Greenville Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Calvary Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
Geraldine was born on March 3, 1930, in Vandalia, Ill., to Joseph and Mabel (Smith) Knebel. She married Dean Koontz and they later divorced. She then married Paul Berkich on Sept. 1, 1956, in Union City, Tenn. He died in 1971. She grew up in Greenville and moved to Godfrey as a young adult. She had worked as a waitress for many years in Godfrey. She moved back to Greenville in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Jean Hamel.
