"Former Resident Of City Is Killed At Los Angeles"

The Lancaster, California, Ledger-Gazette contains the following under the head of "Lancaster Man Killed by Auto in Los Angeles".
"While crossing a street in Los Angeles Tuesday evening James E. Crane of this city was struck by the Nattick Hotel auto bus and knocked to the pavement, suffering a fractured skull from the effects of which he died later in the Receiving hospital. Details of the tragedy are unavailable. Mr. Crane was well and favorably known in the Valley, having lived here for ten years. He was engaged in the real estate and insurance business. He came here from Nebraska. He leaves a wife but no children. The body will be brought to Lancaster today and the funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock."

Mr. Crane was at one time a resident of this city (i.e., Grand Island, Nebraska) and was employed by the Union Pacific. Many of the older residents will remember him.
