Birth: Jun. 16, 1855

Kentucky, USA
Death: Feb. 6, 1929
Douglas County
Kansas, USA

William Philo Davison was born near Louisville, Kentucky, June 16, 1855, and when about thirty years of age came to Johnson County, Kans., with his mother, brothers and sisters and settled near Desoto, Kans., in which place he lived the last twenty-three years of his life. On December 23, 1886, he was united in marriage to Josephine Johnson. To this union were born ten children. The wife, having passed to the great beyond on April 3, 1916, leaving the husband to keep the home together. He is sadly mourned by five children Joseph, Los Angeles, Calif., Florence and Althea of the home address and Leslie and John of Lawrence, six grand children, one brother in Louisville, Kentucky and one sister in Shenandoah, Virginia, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Davison's last illness began about December 1, 1928. All the care and love that physicians, nurses and anxious children could devise and apply for his comfort and assistance were brought into play, but the fate of Him who rules our incomings and our outgoings had been issued and after a brief struggle, despite the prayers and entreaties of those who loved him, their appeals were overruled and on Wednesday evening, Feb 6, 1929, at 7:15 o'clock at Memorial hospital , Lawrence, Kans., the sufferer's spirit took its flight to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of life everlasting. Although he never united with any church, he lived an honest and upright life and believed truly in the golden rule. The journey of his life ended at 73 years, 7 months and 21 days. The last services were held at the Christian church on Friday afternoon, February 8, with the Rev. C. E. Richards of the First Christian church at Lawrence, Kans., officiating. The flowers were many and beautiful and bore mute testimony to the love and respect of many friends. At the close of the services the remains were tenderly laid away in the silent city west of Desoto. From: The Johnson County Democrat. Feb. 14, 1929. Pg. 5.
