MRS. BESSIE FIFIELD
ROCHESTER -- Mrs. Bessie Enola Eaton Fifield, 88, died Friday morning at the Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph following a short illness.
Mrs. Fifield was a school teacher for many years in the Rochester area. She also was a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Co. for more than 35 years.
She was a member of the Rochester Federated Church.
Mrs Fifield was married to Henry G. Fifield in 1908 in Rochester. He died in 1951.
She was born July 18, 1886, in Rochester, the daughter of Frederic and Emma (Hubbard) Eaton. She attended schools in Rochester.
Mrs. Fifield leaves two nephews, Frederic G. Eaton of East Hartford, Conn., and Ned G. Eaton of Philadelphia, Pa.; four nieces, Mrs. Margaret Eaton Guilmette and Mrs. Ethel Ford Kingsbury of Rochester, Mrs. Emma Ford Brown of Middlebury and Mrs. Thelma White Mishkit of South Burlington; 17 grandnieces and grandnephews, three great-grandnieces and one great-grandnephew.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Federated Church here. Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Valley Rescue Squad in Rochester.
