She married James A. Madden, the son of her father's brother. They had several children. In the early 1900s they moved to Ardmore Indian Territory.
Mary was a wonderful Bible teacher who invested her time in the youth and always welcomed others to her home. She welcomed her niece, Hattie Mae Madden, when she moved from Tennessee as a young woman. Many pictures of family reunions show her love for her family.
