JAMES F. RIGBY, 63

James F. Rigby, 63, 120 W. McKee St., died Monday at 5:45 p.m. at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, having been in failing health for several months.

Mr. Rigby was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Greensburg, the son of James M. and Bernice Long Rigby. He had lived in Greensburg his entire life. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1940, and was a very well liked young man at the YMCA for 12 years where he coached a basketball team, the Wiseman. He also organized the Greensburg semi-pro baseball team, the Cardinals. A polio victim, he was unable to participate in sports himself, except for ping-pong, which he mastered.

In 1952, he went with Bohn Aluminum, where he worked 33 years, retiring recently. He was a member of the Greensburg Eagles, the Greensburg County Club, and the Conservation Club.

He was married to Marilyn Miller Aug. 27, 1982, and she preceded him in death June 19, 1983. He is survived by several aunts and cousins. A sister died in infancy.

The services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rand Hooten officiating, and with burial in South Park. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
