Obert Gotfred Lundberg, 89, of Osseo, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Strum Nursing Home.
Obert was born Dec. 20, 1925 at the Lundberg homestead. He was baptized in the Eleva Church by Rev. Wichman and was confirmed by Rev. E. B. Christopherson at Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he remained a faithful member. Obert attended Huskelhus School and Whitehall High School. He became a farmer at an early age and spent his entire life as a farmer. On August 20, 1949 he married Marjorie Erickson at Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church.
Obert was a dedicated dairy farmer who raised registered Holstein cattle and still had time to be active on several dairy committees. During his lifetime he served many years on the church council and was president. He served as supervisor on the Town of Hale board for 17 years, and on the Trempealeau County Zoning Board of Adjustment for 22 years. Obert was on the Osseo Hospital and Nursing Home Board for 25 years, serving as treasurer. With his wife, Marjorie, he received the “Friends of the Hospital” Award.
Obert enjoyed following his children’s and grandchildren’s participation in various activities, sports and musical performances. He enjoyed music and did sing in the church choir during his younger years.
Obert is survived by Marjorie, his wife of 65 years, and four children: David (Peggy) of Osseo, Eric (Karen Betzig-Lundberg) of Eau Claire, Allan (Susan) of Osseo, and Winifred (Gerard) Sonsalla of Arcadia. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Kristin, Brock, Hannah, Justin, Karla, Erica, Alyson, Sarah, Brandon, Jennifer and nine great grandchildren. Obert is survived by two sisters, Adeline Goplin of Osseo and Helen Myhre of Osseo.
Obert was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Golga Lundberg, his sister Freda and brother-in-law Henry Boettcher, brothers-in-law Obert Goplin and Ernest Myhre, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Winifred Erickson.
Funeral services for Obert will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls with Rev. Mary Ann Bowman officiating. Burial will be in Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 26 and Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo and also from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.
