JOHN MARSHALL OLSON, 64 PALM DESERT, CA - John Marshall Olson, 64, of Palm Desert, passed away May 25, 2015, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born September 19, 1950, to Eleanor and Robert Olson.
John was an avid golfer and a sports fanatic. He and his wife, Sandy, enjoyed traveling the countryside in their RV. John was a highly regarded individual in the insurance industry and spent the majority of his career as an Executive General Adjuster. He retired from Zürich North America in September 2014.
He was a loving father and husband and a provider for his family. He was a humorous man who enjoyed making people laugh and loved telling stories. Although not a professional singer, he had a beautiful voice that will be singing down on us for all eternity.
John was known as the eternal optimist and continued that attitude until the very end. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters, Hannah (Rich) Segrist and Justine Roberts; his grandchildren, Madison and Norah Segrist and Cooper and Skylar Roberts.
He is also survived by his mother, Eleanor Olson; sister-in-law, Lorane Olson; and nephews Pete (Kim & Will) and Nathan (Kelly) Olson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Olson; and brother, James Olson. John's wishes were not to have those that loved him mourn his death, but that we celebrate his life instead. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at Southwest Community Church, 44-175 Washington Street, Indian Wells, CA 92210. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Salvation Army on behalf of John Olson.
