Jerry was born in a small community in north Louisiana called Shady Grove to Jason C and Ollie L Jacobs Peoples. He was a well received blessing to three older brothers and sisters. Later, three more sisters would join the family.

Spec. Peoples began his tour in Vietnam Aug. 23, 1970 as Aircraft Maintenance Crewman. He was attached to 222nd Aviation Brigade, 12th Aviation Group, 117th Aviation Company.

Jerry and three others were killed when the aircraft they were in crashed.
