Maxine Davis Stephens, 92, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, in Decatur.

Memorial service is noon Thursday, Jan. 8, at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico. The Rev. Rick Davis will officiate.

Maxine was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Chico to Norman and Lena (Gore) Davis. She married Cecil Stephens Oct. 5, 1940, in Bridgeport. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 2003.

Maxine received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas Christian University and served as a teacher for the Azle and Chico school districts. She was a member of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Eastern Star, and she was a Girl Scout leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Stephens; and her sister, LaRue Allison.

She is survived by her daughters, Norma J. Miller and husband, Wayne, of Chico, Gloria J. Holmes and husband, Jim, of Rockport, and Sheila Greeban and husband, Bobby, of Chico; grandchildren Darrell Miller and wife, Elaine, Laurie Evans, Michael Evans and wife, Allison, Ben Evans and wife, Elaine, and Rob Greeban and wife, Audrea; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family members and friends.
