According to William's his death record, which may now be seen in familysearch.org, he died at the Wapello County Home, which was in a rural area of Wapello County, three miles north of Ottumwa. William's place of birth on that death record is Appanoose County, Iowa.

His obituary gives his place of birth as Pennsylvania. This is the place of birth that I originally showed on his memorial. The census records all show his place of birth as Iowa, and on his marriage certificate to Nellie Ireland Findley, William gave his birth place as Centerville, Iowa. After reviewing all of these records, I have changed his place of birth to Centerville, Iowa.

William was first married to Mary E. Mottoo on October 9, 1881, in Appanoose County, Iowa. After Mary's death, he married Nellie Ireland Findley, the daughter of J.W. and Mary (McNat) Ireland, on May 28, 1927, in Ottumwa.
