Mana Bersa, age 103, died surrounded by her family. She was an active member of the Carmelitas, Altar Society and the Democratic Party. She was also a foster grandparent in the Peñasco School District and was active in the Senior Citizens activities. She loved her blessed Peñasco and Rio Lucio where she raised 9 children as well as chickens, pigs, cows and cabritos with Mano "Lionicio" whom she married in 1920 where they lived in their 150 year old house, orchard and farm. She loved her comadres and compadres and vecinos who shared work, joy and sorrow together as well as frijoles, papas, chili and tortillas. Mana Bersa's spirit was an amazing one to the end and we figure it will be the same in the heavenly beyond. Her friends in heaven will say, "Al fin llego mi comadre Bersa!" and they'll be glad to have her meet a Su Titita Dios y a Maria Santissima. And Dad will say, "Ónde andabas?" Ya me daban ancias!" Our Mother lived through 18 presidents and 26 administrations! The blessing of a long life given to her as she said by her boss, El Creador Del Mundo. Berasabe is survived by her children, Delia Garcia, Lorraine Burns and husband Jim, Luisa Duran and husband David, Dolores Klingbeil, Albert Duran and wife Marge, Bill Duran and wife Dora, Frank Duran and wife Anna Marie, Clarence Duran and wife Carol; daughter-in-law, Elsie Duran. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dionicio Duran; son, Onesimo Duran; parents, Felix Ortiz and Luisa Romero; step-mother, Gomersinda Ortiz; grandson, Michael Duran; great-grandson, Damien Duran; son-in-law, Daniel Garcia and three brothers and one sister.
