Sarah's uncle (her father's brother, Levi) was Captain of a Wagon Train of 175 wagons from Missouri to California in 1855. I believe that John B. Millhollon and his family was part of that wagon train and that is why Sarah Jane was born in California. Her uncle Levi and his wife also had a daughter, Alcy, born in 1855 in California. None of the family stayed in California, they all went back to Texas.
She married James W. Hall, 1879 in Texas.
1900 Census shows her living with her husband, James and her niece, Jimmie Wheeler age 5 and nephew, Roy E. Wheeler age 13.
1930 Census shows her as a widow and living with her niece Jimmie (Wheeler) Knowles.
The family name Millhollon is spelled several ways on records, documents and headstones, Millholland, Milhollon, Millhollin, etc.
