CAROLENA LEHMAN

Carolena Lehman, of whose death mention was made in our issue of last week, passed away at the home of her parents, near Doyle, at 5:25 o'clock on Wednesday evening, November 21st. following an illness of several months duration with complication of diseases.

Carolena Dorothy Lehman, the oldest daughter of Hon Charles E. and Mary Richter Lehman, was born in Montgomery township on November 27th, 1880. When a child two years old her parents moved to this city to reside. She received her education in the local schools. In the year 1905 the family moved to a farm near Doyle where the deceased made her home until the time of her death. Th [sp] deceased was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways so that friendship's circle was to her a large one. Indeed, it may be said of her that "none knew her but to love her." Being somewhat handicapped from birth, she was of a retired nature, but she never complained of her misfortune or illness, not even to the members of her own family. Her home instints were strong here in this fevered world of disappointment and her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding. She was a woman of strong Christian character; patient, loving and self-sacrifing.

The funeral was held from the farm home at one-thirty o'clock last Friday afternoon and from St. John's Lutheran church, in this city, at two o'clock. Rev. Tiede conducted the services and the sweet solemn music of the choir touched every heart. In his funeral sermon Rev. Tiede paid a glowing tribute to the noble life of the deceased. The interment was in German Lutheran cemetery west of this city. The pall-bearers were: William and Alfred Miller, Arthur and Paul Becker, George Lehman and William Richter, all cousins of the deceased.

She is survived by her parents, four sisters, Edith Alexander, of St. Anthony Park, Gustie Thilgen, of Shakopee, Ernestine Washa, of Montgomery township, and Eleanor at home, and two brothers, William E. of this city, and Herman, at home.

The following from a distance attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Thilgen and family, of Shakopee; Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Alexander and family, of St. Anthony Park; Mr. and Mrs. Christ Kelm, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhke and Mrs. Joseph Kotek, of Waterville, Mrs. August Richter, of Kilkenny, and Mr. and Mrs. James Garvin, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Becker and farmily, of Le Sueur Center.
