Charles had retired from Warner-Lambert Corp. as a sales representative. He then worked as a salesman at the former Beasley-Cross Chevrolet and finally worked and retired from Kannapolis City Schools where he worked at A.L. Brown High School. He was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College Class of 1966 where he was a radio sports announcer at the college and was the school mascot, Joe Bear in 1966. Charles was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church until recently moving his membership to Midway United Methodist Church. At Trinity, he was very involved in many church activities including member of the Administrative Board, choir member, member of Darrell Hinnant Sunday School class and was always the top seller of tickets for the annual church Bar-B-Que. At Midway, he also sang in the choir. Charles was a celebrated athlete and an avid golfer. He played Little League baseball as a child, played and coached tennis and was the Lexington city tennis champion in his earlier years. Charles loved his family and relished being the official videographer of his children and grandchildren's sports and family events
