Martinus Walborn, Sr., was a veteran of the American Revolution. He first saw action in the disastrous Battle of Long Island in 1776 under General Washington with the Pennsylvania Rifle Regiment under then Col. Samuel Miles. He eventually went on to cross the Delaware with General Washington for the famous Christmas Day attack on the Hessians under Col. Rall at Trenton and subsequently the battles of Princeton, Brandywine Creek, and Monmouth. He was the son of Christian Walborn and Catharina Elisabeth Batdorf Walborn. He was the husband of Maria Margaretha Ley Walborn. He was the father of Leonhard Walborn, who is interred at Frieden's Lutheran Church (Union Cemetery) in Myerstown, Berks Co., PA. He is the fifth great grandfather of Beverly Mildred Dege Decker, the fourth great grandfather of Beulah Eva Klopp Dege, the third great grandfather of Dr. John Adam Klopp, the second great grandfather of Meldarina K. Katterman Klopp, the great grandfather of Calina Walborn Katterman, and the grandfather of Andreas Walborn.
