Lillian Harriet Straley, 98 of Eggleston, passed away Monday, March 23rd, 2015 at Heritage Hall Rich Creek.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born in Eggleston on July 11th, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Charles French and Georgia Walker Straley. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John D. Straley and Charles Chapman Straley; a sister, Margaret Louise Straley; a nephew, Gerald B. Straley; and several cousins.

Lillian lived in a little house joining the family farm most of her adult life, caring for her parents and sister during their declining years, along with her chickens, cats and dogs. She was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pearisburg.

She is survived by a nephew, Donald C. Straley and wife Becky of Eggleston; a great nephew, Donald Patrick Straley and wife Lorinda of Christiansburg; a great neice, Sarah Straley Newbill and husband Tom of Wilmington, North Carolina; six great-great nephews and nieces; and a special cousin, Virginia Whittaker of Eggleston.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, March 27th, 2015 at 2 PM at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
